Michael Hulmes lives in Bournemouth and started playing when he was eleven. He made his first public performance at the age of twelve and gave his first solo recital just before his fifteenth birthday.
Soon afterwards he was offered a place at the Guildhall School of Music and Drams. He studied there with Michael Edmonds and Robert Brightmore. In 1993 Michael moved to Cardiff to study at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. He studied guitar with John Mills and Music technology with Rodger Butler and Leif Keane. In his final year he made his national debut as part of the BBC Radio Two Young Musicians series, being only the second guitarist ever to do so in the history of the competition.
He has recorded three albums, sold over one thousand at his concerts and is presently working on his new CD.
